Many patients have been helped in modern dentistry by non-prep veneers and veneers. Crowns are only used if the tooth substance no longer offers the needed structure and stability to accept adhesive-attached partial tooth restorations. A crown is preferred in these cases because it can protect the remaining tooth structure and build it up again.
Crowns can be structured with modern dental ceramics - without dark triangles and "black borders," as they often appeared in older restorations. We structure our crowns as if they had grown naturally from the gums. This means that the gums, the gum edges and the tooth (crown) form an aesthetic unit.
